Blaugust Weekly Prompts: Weeks 1 & 2

Angry Bunny Man reminded me that I skipped the first two Weekly Prompts for Blaugust. I’ve decided to put weeks one and two together to catch up.

Week One – Welcome to Blaugust

What made you decide to do Blaugust this year, and what are your personal goals?

I randomly found Blaugust in my recent search for an independent web. Having finished making my blog a couple of days prior to Blaugust was perfect timing, so I jumped on it.

Did you start preparing for Blaugust before the August 1st start date? If so, what did you do ahead of time to make sure you’d stay on track?

Nope. I actually didn’t hear about Blaugust until a couple of days into it.

Do you remember how you heard about Blaugust for the first time?

I heard about Blaugust by searching on Wiby. There was a post about it on one of the blogs on this blogroll.

If this isn’t your first Blaugust, what keeps you coming back to do this year after year?

This is my first Blaugust, so I’ll say what will have me coming back next year. Mostly it’s the community. I miss the old internet, and Blaugust makes me feel like we can still have online connections that matter.

Community Builder Bonus Prompt: Who are the Blaugust bloggers who you keep reading all year round?

Since I’m new in the community, I’ll just list some blogs that I can’t get enough of.

angrybunnyman.com/archive – An epic wordsmith of fantastic proportions.

axxuy.xyz/blog – Simplicity that cuts through the noise of modern life.

nkantar.com – A deep thinker who inspires self-reflection.

Week Two – Introduce Yourself

Tell us ten random facts about the human behind the blog.

  1. My cool translucent rainbow watch never leaves my wrist. I started using it as a way to stop looking at my phone as much when I needed the time.
  2. There are only two pairs of shorts (except gym shorts), and one pair of pants in my wardrobe.
  3. One time, I told a guy trying to give me coupons for amusement parks that I didn’t need any of them, because I’m very rich. I’m not—just didn’t feel like talking to anybody.
  4. I play through Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West on repeat, only taking small breaks to play other games.
  5. The only drinks I consume are peppermint tea, unsweetened soymilk (usually in my tea), chamomile tea, and sparkling water. I’m not against adding more herbal teas though.
  6. Yesterday was the first time I ate in a restaurant in over a month.
  7. I only write with mechanical pencils, if I can help it.
  8. Dungeons & Dragons is a regular activity of mine.
  9. I once watched Nacho Libre three times in one day.
  10. Last week, I beat Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1&2 Remastered, and it was a lot of fun.

Tell us about your absolutely favorite entertainment media.

Sometimes I don’t think I would have survived this long without music. My current favorites are in the second part of this post.

Tell the story behind the creation and name of your blog.

My blog gets its name from when I was building a website a few months ago as a welcoming place for fluid people, whether it’s gender, sexual orientation, personality, spirituality—anything really. You can read about that more here. As I mention in the post, that idea is dormant, not dead. Right now, it’s not my focus.

What other hobbies do you have besides blogging / the topic of your blog?

Playing music with others is a big one that I don’t get to do much these days.

Tell us about the part of the world you live in, like you’re trying to attract someone to visit.

It’s quiet, and the winters are mild.

Tell us about your blogging workflow and / or show us your creative space.

I start ideas in my journal. Late at night, I head over to my computer and get to clacking right in the block editor on the site. This recently changed, a couple of days ago I was using hand-coded HTML and CSS.
